Hi all,

Does anybody happen to have a cylinder head for a gl1200 lying around? one of mine broke where the 10mm bolt goes in at the bottom, so it just pisses out oil now... not a happy teddy bear!! Anyway i live near glasgow for the purposes of postage, so if anyone has one that i can have that would be amazing!!

cheers,

Alex

Here is a left hand one, but sadly it is in the States, so would probably cost a fair bit in shipping and probably fall foul of the tax man...

Gocha and yes, best to ask around before having to shell out to have one shipped if you can.
Might there be a reason for it happening, especially if it has happened before?

No! (Or at least not cost effectively).
I had the same on my 12 when I got it. Someone had forgotten the little bolt when taking the head off.
It had been repaired with plastic metal or something similar, but did not seal at the gasket face and eventually, oil was finding its way through the repair as well.
I picked up a gash engine cheap on ebay where someone had got the timing wrong putting new head gaskets in and bent the valves.
Confusion will be my Epitaph

If you are getting a cylinder head for a 1200 be careful as there are 2 different types.
Some have exhaust gas recirculation ports and some do not.
The unit in the picture below has the recirculation post shown.
The ones without have this area flat and level with the top of the inlet port.
