Hey folks,
New to goldwinging and to this forum
Bought a 1984 GL1200 DE trike which has been re sprayed and although it's not a bad job whoever did it didn't put any badges or emblems back on !
Anyway... I'm looking for any spares going about or if anyone knows of a non USA website that I should try - postage from the states is silly money.
Any help or pointers would be appreciated

It may be worth having a look at Dave Silver www.davidsilverspares.co.uk and give them a ring.

A warm welcome to the site Tomfor, good to have you join us. :)wavewel

What sort of spares do you need mate? If you write up a shortlist of what you need, folks here will be more than happy to direct you to anywhere we can think of that might be able to help.

Here is somewhere to start on emblems and it would be worth asking John or Karin about the pin striping too, they might have it.

They are great to deal with, no high import charges and only charge postage that it costs them.

Well after a long winter and a 3 month battle with dvla to get the trike properly registered I am now good to go.
I managed to source some excellent emblems thru ebay from a guy in las vegas. As luck would have it i was in vegas last week, met him and completed the deal. No carriage costs!!!

Now need to start giving the old girl some tlc and i need more help.
The inside of the fairing (the bit you see from the saddle) is looking very ugly with many panels missing and wires exposed. Especially down the legs.
Can anyone help send or post some photos of what it should look like to help me on the next stage.
I will post some photos soon
Thanks

Now why didnt I think of that??
Here are some snaps that hopefully show what I am missing
couple of empty spaces and it seems that whatever should be at the lower end of the fairing is missing altogether... if that makes sense
So... first that left hand side as you sit on - big empty space with exposed wiring and no lower insert at all

Next the right hand side, smaller hole and no lower fairing

lastly the front bit

Hopefully these upload okay and this makes it easier

You can tell Im a total Goldwing novice!!

In your first picture, you can compare and see, that what you are missing there is the CB unit that is on mine . They are commonly available on Ebay in the USA though not so common here in the UK. I believe there is a blanking panel that can be fitted if the bike doesn't have CB

Both these are off a 1985 GL1200 Ltd, but this is what you are missing from the bottom of the fairing on either side.....

This is what you are missing from the left side, below the soft pocket.....

And this is what I think you are missing from the right hand side below the pocket.....

Or you could skip the clock and install one of these that will enable you to put in an aftermarket stereo

Your trike is based on a GL1200 Interstate which would differ somewhat
from the Aspencade or Limited Edition or SEi models.
The obvious difference would be the Electronic dashboard, but there are differences too
in the Fairing, particularly in the lower fairing area.
Here is a picture of the Aspencade fairing with the Interstate below it

Sorry about the poor quality of the pictures.
You can hopefully see above that the Aspencade USA model
has a CB in the left with the controls for the onboard
compressor with suspension controls on the right.
The Interstate was sold as a basic model and did not have the CB
or the onboard compressor,
and of course no suspension controls,
so these would have been blank covers.
It is possible though that an aftermarket CB was fitted
in yours as I see some cables there.

These are the covers that fit on the bottom at each side.
They are handed, so if you are buying them make sure you get one of each.

I would suggest to that you try DK Motorcycles in Stoke on Trent in your search

www.dkmotorcycles.com/

I have purchased some stuff from them in the past, they have a huge stock of used parts
and they are easy to deal with pricewise.
It is also a good place to visit, they have 2 showrooms one for new bikes
and one for used bikes that they import from the USA
and they have a cafe too so you can get fed.

I have no connection with them other that the fact that I was there and enjoyed it.
