Hi there Keith, nice to see you posting so soon.
Like yourself, I post on other forums as well and I must admit that it can sometime get a bit confusing, swapping from one to another.
Although it could be disputed that this one is not the best, it certainly is, when it comes to our members.
Maybe members is not the right word, as we all consider ourselves "family" and I know for sure that if you stay with us, we'll soon "adopt" you, just like I was, a couple of years ago.
One of the biggest benefits here is, that we all look after each other, with so many of us living close to one and other, all over the British Isles. Chances are that if you get a problem and we can't fix it "on-line" for you, tea, coffee, cakes or John Smiths, would certainly be a good bait to get some of us "at yer door". ...... We even have Pan owners too.
I could go on and list many of the other benefits here but you've only got to spend a bit of time looking back on our previous Posts/Topics and see for yourself.
Welcome to Goldwingforum.co Keith3po.
I guess you are a Star Wars fan?
You seem to have got the hang of some things like your avatar and signature images.
There are tons of forums out there, using different platforms, some are quite visually striking
and some are comparatively stark. Most, however have a commercial, political or club entity behind them.
This forum is not about money, politics or clubs, there is no Donate button, nobody is trying to sell you anything
material or otherwise.
This forum started off several years ago because another forum we were all on decided to close down.
We all wanted to keep in touch, and a group got together and set this forum up,
each put a few quid into a kitty, a hosting company was found and it was all set up.
In the beginning there were only a small few members, but over time it all grew.
As Brian pointed out above, a forum is only as good as its active members,
it does not matter how smart the wallpaper is or how fancy the pictures are, its all about the members.
got to admit keith you are right about all the different forums and set up, some for example wont allow you to put images directly in and you need to set up say a photobucket account and then work out how to link them. One thing for sure on this one is we do endeavor to make using the website and forum as easy as possible for our members, if you or anyone is struggling on how to do something we will look at it and see if there is an easy solution. Theres also a how do i and help button on the top menu, with some lessons on how to do stuff. We also have a few other things that benefit members like direct ebay adverts, you tube videos etc, while not allowing adverts from companies we ask members to inform us of companies that provide good service so we can provide a link to thier websites. This website is not heavy in technical issues but once again we encourage members to post images of projects for example fitting a tow bar and of course we have a good technical gathering of members willing to help in terms of knowledge and sourcing items. The site is also a safe place to be, there is no picking on although we do have a bit of banter and is kept light hearted. So hopefully you will get round the differences and enjoy your time on here. If there is anything that we dont provide here then by all means suggest it and we will see what we can do. Its worth pointing out that this website is run on open source content, ie free by members who are not professional webmasters but all in all we get by.
